This species, now lumped into the Aloe zebrina complex, originated in north-central South Africa, where it has an affinity for sandy soils. It prolifically offsets, has heavily spotted leaves that have a dark-green background, and it flowers red, and therefore has more than a superficial resemblance to the A. zebrina of Namibia and Angola. These plants are rooted offsets in 5-inch pots.
