This is one of the great tree Euphorbias from the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, extending into Tanzania and Uganda. In habitat, the trees reach 30 to 40 feet high, but our rooted cuttings are only about 6- to 9- inches tall. The flowers are the old standard Euphorbia yellow, but seed capsules are spectacular, as the name suggests, turning red when mature. Subspecies lacertosa, which is from near the northern part of the range on the Laikipia Plateau, is shorter and broader than the typical species. These plants are rooted cuttings in 3-inch pots.
