Euphorbia ampliphylla is a forest tree in tropical East Africa, extending in range from Ethiopia to Zambia. The stems are 3- to 4-angled and bear large, fleshy green leaves that may be perennial, depending upon the watering situation. Unlike the typical species, the cyathia are ruby red, perhaps reflecting that the original plants were labeled Euphorbia obovalifolia, an illegal name. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
