This plant, variously listed as a variety or subspecies, is part of a complex of Echinocereus that ranges from Oklahoma through Texas and into northeastern Mexico. Subspecies albispinus is distinguished with its prominent white spines on a green, offsetting body. The flowers are large and violet. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
