This species is the classic flat-topped tree of eastern and southern Africa with a range extending into the Negev Desert and Sinai of the northern Arabian Peninsula. It has finely pinnate green leaves and rather stout black spines. The flowers are yellow and ball-shaped. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
