This wonderful pachycaul tree is from Zimbabwe, northeastern South Africa, and Botswana. The main stem has peeling bark, and the stemshave small gray leaves and sharp spines. The plant produces white fragrant flowers that are 6-incheslong.We’veseen this species growing near pans in the Kalahari where the low temperature is known to have sunk to 3F. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
