No one seems to know what this is or where it comes from. Speculation ranges from Arizona (hahaha) to India, but most likely it is from South America if it is a species instead of a hybrid. It is a low sprawing plant with numerous yellow-green arms bearing nearly ribs with short white spines, earning it the rather stupid name of corn cob cactus. Its flowers are smallish and yellow. Likely this species would be hardy in the Tucson landscape, where it frequently goes below 25F in the winter. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
