When grown in an area free of frost, this Erythrina forms a short-trunked tree with a thickened base. In Arizona, where this species is native, a significant amount of the above-ground biomass is killed by frost each year, creating a sizable underground caudex. The highly attractive flowers are a bright scarlet. We offer seedlings of this species in 2-gallon pots.
