This pachycaul tree is from southwestern Madagascar but has been merged with Delonix floribunda. Strange, because our plants of these two species are quite different. Species in the genus Delonix are characterized by large showy flowers, and this species is no exception, with yellow-white petals. The trunk is swollen and gnarled with numerous imperfections that make for an extremely attractive hemisucculent. These plants are rooted cuttings in 3-gallon pots.
