This small pachycaul tree, from the papaya family, is from a broad area of South America ranging from Bolivia to Brazil and northern Argentina. You can raise this plant to expose the nice caudex, which is why you would want this species in your collection. The species is dioecious with relatively small flowers, and the nonedible fruit is striped with orange when ripe. These plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
