This species originally came from a site west-southwest of Hargeisa, Somalia (Lav 7382). Growing on rocks, this species readily produces offsets from the main plant, which tends to lie over on its side. The leaves are dark green, relatively narrow with sharp tips, rough, and bearing faint yellow-green spots and bands. The plants put out creeping stems, which initially are much lighter and colorful. Clearly this is part of the complex ranging from S. suffruticosa to S. phillipsiae. These plants are rooted offsets in 5-inch pots.
