From Botswana (Jim McConville 165, HBG 50502), this plant competes with S. canaliculata and S. fischeri for the “plant most likely to get impaled upon” award. The leaves are cylindrical with a channel on the upper face, numerous transverse bands that can be inconspicuous, and many vertical lines. The tip is hard and sharp. These plants are rooted offsets in 5-inch pots.
