This is a solitary, short columnar species from Argentina. It has a gray-green stem with dirty white spines, and the plant itself is rather unremarkable. The flowers are a different story: borne on long petioles, the light yellow flowers open in early evening and are closed by morning, and they seem to only last one day. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
