Widely distributed north to south in eastern Mexico, this is an extremely variable species. Some consider this to be Stenocactus crispatus, but we keep it separate. This small globose species has a medium green body. Noted for its tightly folded ribs, it has long white spines emanating from tubercles arranged along the ribs. The flowers are multicolored but predominantly purple and white. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
