Some consider this to be a subspecies of Melocactus curvispinus, but well keep it at the species level for now. From western Mexico, this is a solitary globose species with curving spines and a well-developed whitish cephalium on older plants. The flowers are a light pinkish-purple. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
