This species ranges eastern South Africa up to Malawi and is a rare species that is confined to rocky slopes and ravines of the major river systems. This medium-sized tree produces a whitish gray trunk with minimally flaking bark. The leaves have an coarsely wavy margin, are heavily veined, and have hairs, particularly along the veins. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
