This highly desirable pachycaul is from Madagascar. Once thought to be a form of O. decaryi, it differs in its size – it is a dwarf species – and its trunk, which is gray and gnarled. The leaves are pinnatifid and similar to O. decaryi, but the twigs typically are strongly zigzagged. This is a classic bonzai species, since that type of growth is most similar to its largely soil free habitat. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
