Once known as Bombacopsis quinata, this pachycaul tree is from Central America with a range extension into Venezuela and Columbia. Like many Ceiba, the trunk of this species is adorned with stubby thorns, and like Bursera, the plants may be cut and stuck as fence posts. The flowers are white, and like Bombax, are dominated by the long stamens. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
