Widely distributed in Mexico, this plant ranges in size from shrubs to trees. The stem has an overall copper-red appearance with shredding bark and highly aromatic resin. The leaves tend to be trifoliate and light green with considerable variability in age and maturity of the plant. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
