This pachycaul tree is from southwestern Madagascar. Species in the genus Delonix are characterized by large showy flowers, and this species is no exception, with yellow-white petals. The trees never get very tall in habitat and are a good subject for bonsai. The trunk is swollen and gnarled with numerous imperfections that make for an extremely attractive hemisucculent. These plants are seedlings in one-gallon pots.
