This species is from the greater Richtersveld region of northwestern South Africa and southern Namibia. This shrub has finger-sized stems that are waxy coated and gray-green in color without spines. The cyathia are dark red. This species has sap that quickly turns tacky, hence the species epithet. These plants are rooted cuttings in 4-inch pots.
