This essentially spineless shrub comes from the Gedo Region of Somalia and northeastern Kenya. The open branches have 4-6 ribs with a dark purple spine shield that is joined in older plants. The cyathia are dirty yellow brown. These plants are rooted cuttings in 3-inch pots.
