Occurring in the state of Durango, Mexico, near La Zarca, this plant of the Chihuahuan Desert prolifically offsets, forming clusters of plants. It is a relatively large species characterized by blue-green leaf surfaces with black, recurved spines along the margins. This species likely is hardy in Tucson. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
