Distributed over a smaller area of the Western Cape Province of South Africa, than the typical species, G. brachyphylla var. bayeri is a stemless, distichous and dwarf species. These plants are propagated from material originally collected south of Calitzdorp. The smooth, shiny, and pointed-tipped leaves are distinctive, as are the small white spots in the dark-green background. These plants are rooted offsets in 2-inch pots.
