This species is from central Mexico, where it grows at high elevation. A solitary species with a medium-sized rosette, it has more-or-less ovate leaves that are blue-green in color and bear substantial marginal spines. Cultivar Orca has yellow margins and the centers are a pale olive green color. These plants are rooted offsets in 3-inch pots.
