As the name implies, Sarcocaulon crassicaule is a thick stemmed species. In habitat, it ranges from southern Namibia through the Western Cape Province of South Africa. The stem also has thick spines and the leaves are approximately one-inch long and are grey-green. The flowers are pale yellow to white. These seedlings are in 4-inch pots.
