This recently discovered species is from Paulsfontein, west of Albertinia in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It appears to be an intermediate species, or even natural hybrid, between H. retusa and H. magnifica var. dekenahii, and it is highly variable in the wild and in cultivation. These plants have chunky dark leaves and appear to remain solitary. These plants are seedlings in 3-inch pots.
