This black-leaved species, common through the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, forms small offsets rosettes. These plants have the nice nested leaves combined with that chocolate brown color that makes this species so desirable. Variety diversifolia has considerable roughness caused by small whitish-gray tubercles on the leaves. These plants are rooted offsets in 4-inch pots.
