From East Africa, this upright species with spiky leaves was once called S. intermedia. We collected the original material from near Same, Tanzania It is slow growing, offsetting from an underground rhizome to produce rosettes with several leaves. The leaves have strong banding on them and these plants can be nearly white in full sun. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
