From the Eastern Cape Province, this small shrub is commonly found in the southern Great Karoo. The branches arise from a succulent rootstock and are gray-brown, appearing black when wet on the older parts. The leaves are fairly small and dark green. The flowers are whitish-yellow. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
