This ocotillo is closer to a tree than a shrub. Native to southern Baj California and most of Baja California Sur, Mexico, this species is readily identified in the wild by the wild form of its branches, its orange-yellow striping on the trunk, and its fiery red flowers. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
