This Ferocactus, from north-central Mexico, is sometimes referred to as Ferocactus pilosus and has the reputation of being one of the most spectacular of the genus. These densely spined cacti are known for their red-orange flowers that typically are produced in the summer. The spines are reddish-brown, the body is dark green, and the plants can reach 10-feet tall. These plants are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
