This large tree is from the Pampas of Argentina, and its silhouette is a symbol for the countries of Uruguay and Argentina. Its wood is very soft, and it has large ovate leaves. It reputedly is frost hardy to perhaps 25F or lower and is used as a landscape plant in southern California and central Arizona. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
