From the Western and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa, where it tends to grow in the coastal areas, this medusoid species has a flattened green body with numerous short, tubercle-bearing stems. The cyathia are yellow and tend to be near the ends of the stems. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
