This is a relatively small species from near Lindi, Tanzania (Bhitala 1034). These plants have long, round upright leaves with 5-6 channels, superficially resembling S. erythraeae and S. patens. The leaves on S. canaliculata, however, are light green compared with the typically darker S. erythraeae, which comes from region centered on Ethiopia, and S. pfennigii, which has roughened gray leaves and comes from the same area. These plants are rooted offsets in 5-inch pots.
