Uncarina decaryi is a small tree with a swollen base and pretty yellow flowers with a brown throat. It grows in southern Madagascar, and although we have not tried it ourselves, we hear from fellow Tucsonans that this species can take considerable frost and can be grown outside in protected areas at temperatures down to about 26F. The leaves are pubescent and aromatic, and the fruit is covered with harpoon-like barbs that stick to clothes and fingers alike. These are seedlings in 5-inch pots.
