From the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, this cremnophilous species has swollen, articulated branches that make it an interesting geophytic species. The green leaves are coarse serrated and can turn reddish in the fall. The flowers are lavender to purple. These plants are rooted cuttings in 5-inch pots.
