Widely distributed in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Zambia, north to southern Tanzania, this large tree has orange- red flowers and is commonly planted as an ornamental. The trunk bears spines that armor the tree. The leaves are ovate-cordate with a tapering tip. These plants are seedlings in 2-gallon pots.
