The genus Alluaudia is endemic to Madagascar and represents an example of convergent evolution when compared to the New World genus Fouquieria. This species of Alluaudia is from the southwestern part of the island where it forms large trees with cascading branches. It has dark-green leaves and large, stout spines, making it similar to the rarer A. montagnacii and very common A. procera. It has red flowers. We offer rooted cuttings of this species in 4-inch pots.
