This species is one of the most popular species of Gasteria in cultivation, because its leaf form and striking coloration. This variety, which grows on dolomite cliffs (hence the name) in Mpumalanga Province of South Africa (EVJ 15078), is distinguished on the basis of leaf color and amount and color of the tubercles.
