From Madagascar, this small species slowly offsets to form small clumps. The leaves are blue-green and unspotted with faint lines and a vaguely pink margin. Variety longiracemosa has much grayer leaves than our typical species. The flowers are held in a dense, nearly capitate panicle and are red. In variety longiracemosa, as the name indicates, the raceme is much longer than in the typical species. These plants are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
