From the Northern Province of South Africa, this beautiful species has relatively thick stems arising from a caudex. The stems generally are 4-angled, moderately spiny, and variegated. The cyathia are yellow, and this species tends to flower for a longer period than most. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
