Another of the "Old Man Cacti," this species is from central Mexico, where it can form dense, spectacular stands. A large columnar species, it has dense wool on the young plants but has a light green, multi-fluted stem with age. The pinkish flowers are produced from what is called a pseudocephalium, or area of dense bristly wool, that develops on older plants. These are seedlings in 4-inch pots.
