From Tanzania, this species earns its epithet from is flexible stems and leaves, which leads to a sprawling shrubby plant; however, the name actually comes from its inconsistent character of folds in larger leaves. The blue-gray leaves with short spines are quite attractive, and the flowers are red. These plants are rooted offsets in one-gallon pots.
