From the mountainous regions of east-central Mexico, this small species is considered by some to be part of Mammillaria vetula. The plants have a light-green body with numerous white spines but generally lacking a central spine. The flowers, likewise, are small and yellow. These plants are rooted offsets in 4-inch pots.
