This columnar plant is from southern Peru and northern Chile. This species has numerous branches each bearing numerous ribs that are somewhat obscured by spine-bearing tubercles. The spines are dense and stout when mature. The flowers are white with green tepals, and the floral tubes are somewhat wavy. These plants are seedlings in 2-inch pots.
