This species is restricted to the northeastern corner of Kenya, lapping into southern Ethiopia. This spiny shrub has relatively thin 4-angled stems with longitudinal yellow-green stripes. These stems tend to be sprawling with widely dispersed, long-brown spines. The cyathia are simple and brownish yellow. These plants are rooted cuttings in 4-inch pots.
