This species is mostly found in coastal areas of the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. It is a dimorphic species, with the young stems snaking along the ground with short leaves, the adult leaves being densely white-spotted and upright. The flowers are orange-red. This is a difficult species to grow and it is restricted to sand sheets in winter-rainfall areas. These plants are rooted cuttings in 5-inch pots.
