This species is from the Chihuahuan Desert of Texas and Mexico, but it is widely distributed in Mexico and South America because of its ethnobotanical value. It is a thin-stemmed cactus with numerous yellow spines. The flowers are yellow-green. This plant can likely take considerable frost. These plants are rooted cuttings in one-gallon pots.
