This spiny cholla is perhaps the most common one in western Arizona and southeastern California (Baker 18666.1). These plants have jointed stems covered with yellow-red spines. The flowers are yellow with a range from green to red. Variety ramosa has thinner stems than the typical species. These plants are rooted cuttings in 5-inch pots.
